QNX 6.1.0 Patch B for PPCbe

This installation note includes:

In QNX-RTP 6.1.0 PPCbe, interprocess messages can be corrupted, potentially causing a critical failure for a process (ref 14361). This patch fixes this issue; it contains the PPC microkernels (procnto) for the 400, 600 and 800 processors.

This patch is targeted at all customers who are doing development or supporting product-based PPC processors and QNX RTP 6.1.

Installation

This section describes how to install this patch on these hosts:

On a QNX 6 host

To install this patch on a QNX 6 host:

  1. Go to http://commercial.qnx.com/repository/patchB and download patchB.tar into /root/pkg.
  2. Expand the file:
    cd /root/pkg
    tar -xvf patchB.tar
      
  3. Start the QNX Package Installer.
  4. Choose File-->Add repository
  5. Give any name to the repository and specify file:///root/pkg as the location.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Check the package QNX (Patch B) for ppcbe.
  8. Click Install.

On a Windows host

To install this patch on a Windows host:

  1. Make sure that you've set up the QNX_TARGET and QNX_HOST environment variables correctly. For more information, see the Windows SDK installation note.
  2. If you've installed a previous patch, delete the following:
  3. Download http://commercial.qnx.com/patchB/patchB.tar into %QNX_HOST%\..\..\pkgs\qpk\.
  4. Extract the contents of the tarball by typing:
    tar -xvf file
      

    where file is the name of the tarball.


    Note: Don't use winzip to extract the files.

    The qpk and qpm files are placed in %QNX_HOST%\..\..\pkgs\qpk\.

  5. Run qpkadd.bat.

On a Solaris host

To install this patch on a Solaris host:

  1. If you've installed a previous patch, delete the following:
  2. Download http://commercial.qnx.com/patchB/patchB.tar into %QNX_HOST%\..\..\pkgs\qpk\.
  3. Extract the contents of the tarball. For example:
    cd %QNX_HOST%\..\..\pkgs\qpk\
    tar -xvf file
      

    where file is the name of the tarball.

  4. Run:
    qpkadd %QNX_HOST%\..\..\pkgs\qpk\/*.qpm
